New Home

This first shot is of the front entrance (east facing). Walking around to the north side of the house, you can see the large "wall of windows" in the living room and where the playroom bumps out. The garage is also on the north side of the house.

In the west wing, the master bedroom is on the main floor. The boys' bedrooms (with an adjoining bath) are right above the master. Walking around to the south side of the house, you can see the bay windows in the master and Kyle's room, the hallway that leads to the laundry room (downstairs) and the guest room (upstairs). The main part of the house is one large room, with a skylight that runs the length of the dining room and the master path. There's a stamped concrete patio accessed through two sets of french doors on either end of the room. Finally, we reach the office. There's a loft above the office.

Now let's move inside the house...

Here's the entry, loft and living room. The living room is seen from the loft.

Here's the main room. Note the curved fir ceilings, exposed beams, and central skylight. The eastern portion of the room is the dining area, with gas fireplace with granite and cherry cabinetry. The French doors on the south side lead to the patio, while the doors on the north side lead to the playroom (see third photo).

There are two islands in the kitchen. The east island is tall enough that you can't see into the kitchen while sitting at the dining room table. It has plenty of storage on all four sides, including a small fridge for wine or soft drinks. The west island has an eating bar and bar stools on one side, an oven, a five-burner stove, and a prep sink on another side, and storage for cookbooks on the short sides. The south wall of the kitchen has a double sink and dishwasher, as well as lots of storage. The north wall of the kitchen has the refrigerator, microwave, second oven, and a warming oven. There's also a small counter and a tall pantry.

The western portion of the room has three comfy love seats and our home theater system, as well as lots of storage for media and books.

The master bedroom is simple but comfortable. We love all the windows and the mood lighting in the soffit. The master bath has lots of storage, a vanity, shower, and a walk-in closet with full-length mirror. And yes, all women need at least this many shoes!

The boys have identical rooms. The bay windows include window seats with three storage cubbies (with lids that raise) and are surrounded by bookcases on both sides. The guest bedroom has its own bathroom with jetted tub. We love the feel of the curved fir ceilings in these three bedrooms.

Notes: It was hard to capture the office without a wide-angle lens, so we didn't.
